Melodio Tile Guild
Est. 2014 • Vermont

We shape spaces that last centuries.

Melodio Tile Guild exists to preserve and advance the ancient art of tile setting while embracing modern materials science and sustainable practices.

Our Story

Founded in 2014 by master craftsman Elias Morrow, Melodio Tile Guild began as a small workshop teaching the lost techniques of encaustic and hydraulic tile restoration.

After restoring historic floors across New England estates, we opened our first permanent studio school in 2018. Today we welcome students from over forty countries each year.

Our teaching approach

Hands-on only

Every student completes four full-scale projects before graduation. Theory lives only in service to the mortar.

Material science first

We teach substrate chemistry, thermal movement, and moisture management so that every installation survives decades of real life.

Nature-first ethos

All curriculum prioritizes low-carbon, locally sourced or reclaimed materials. No single-use plastics in our studios.

Core faculty

Each instructor maintains an active practice and returns to the Guild for fourteen weeks each year.
